Why I Got My Nursing Diploma Online

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”

Mahatma Gandhi

Empathy has always been my strongest asset. Ever since I was little I wanted to save our world and see all the people around the globe smiling. I could never understand why some people didn’t want to help an old lady to cross the street or give food to a starving kitten. These little gestures of kindness have been making me feel good and proud about myself throughout all my life. So, after many years of giving people hope and thus making the world a better place (by travelling around the world and volunteering in schools and hospitals), I figured out I had a lot of experience in nursery but no diploma. That made me consider enrolling in a nursing school, but the problem was: I didn’t want to stop travelling. At least not for now.

I really knew a lot about nursing even before taking the official classes, but that doesn’t mean I knew everything. Since I was always on the road and didn’t really had the money for a prestigious nursing school, I decided to go with the latest studying trend: online schools. Now let me tell you something about getting a diploma online. It’s awesome! It gives you so many options to choose from, so much liberty and on top of all that, it doesn’t cost as much as a regular school. Also, if you’re in a hurry to get a diploma of any kind, many online degree programs are accelerated and will fast – track you to the finish.

The choice of getting a nursing diploma online definitely changed my views on studying. These days you don’t have to just sit in a big classroom, listen to the professors and write in your notebook. The great thing about online learning is that you get to use your skills and creativity and you’ll definitely notice a deeper connection with your professors, as weird as it sounds. You’ll have to share with them the insecurities or doubts you’ll probably get while studying and since it’s an online course, you can ask them a question at three o’clock in the morning or at five o’clock in the afternoon without having to wait for the next day. That was maybe the coolest thing I experienced while studying online because I’m very curious and I always have questions.

Even though there are many courses around the web, you can easily sense which one is the good one. The course I chose was offering a great program whose career outcomes were very satisfying, such as: acute medication, community health, mental health and aged care. I have to say, my experience with this program was more than pleasant and it definitely made my life easier. I really needed the nursing diploma, but finding the time to go to a school was impossible and having to listen to professors all day long has never been my thing. Although I was always a good student, I really had issues with staying calm and quiet during classes. But I guess you already figured that I’m not the “staying in one place” type of a person.

Also one of the most important things to look for while searching for an online course is to see if that course is accredited. I can guarantee you that there will be many frauds that you’ll stumble upon while searching for the program that suits you the most, but don’t let them make you quit. Usually the good ones are easily recognizable and you can always search for reviews from previous students or contact the school, so even if you are a little bit cautious you won’t have a problem.

So now when I got my nursing diploma online and I already found a job in Perth, I have to tell you, it was very worth it. I’m taking a one year break from volunteering so that I could focus on my nursing career and help the people in need in my country. And I have to tell you, I still feel that need to make the world a better place like many years ago. My dreams to see people happy have never vanished and that’s how I know that the child in me never died.
